Wawa Welcome America 2022: road closures for Center City, Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the holiday weekend

Wawa Welcome America, Philadelphia’s annual 4th of July festival, is nearing completion after a two-week run. As organizers gear up for a busy holiday weekend filled with concerts and fireworks, the city is expecting an influx of people looking to celebrate Independence Day.

There will be several big events over the weekend, from the POPS on Independence Day on Sunday July 3 to the America’s Independence Day Parade along Market Street on Monday morning.

All events held during the day of July 4 lead up to Welcome America’s signature events: the party, the concert and the fireworks on the Benjamin Franklin promenade.

While the city issued a road closure notice earlier in June, those looking to spend time in the city over the holiday long weekend should be aware of some major roadblocks.

Closings for the 4th of July concert begin Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m., with more closures throughout downtown to follow.

The Philadelphia Parking Authority will not impose parking meters, kiosks or time limits on Mondays or Tuesdays. All enforcement actions will resume on Wednesday, July 6.
