Evander Holyfield vs Vitor Belfort: start time, how to watch or broadcast Saturday’s fight

Apparently Trump will comment? 2021 is a year of hell.

Aging boxing superstar Evander Holyfield and former UFC Champion Vitor Belfort are fighting this weekend. If that weren’t bizarre enough, former US President Donald Trump will apparently be in office. It could be the weirdest combat sports event of 2021, and in a year where YouTubers Logan paul and Jacques Paul have resumed boxing, to say the least.

According to a statement released by the Triller Fight Club, Trump will “host and comment on” the 9/11 event, joined by his son, Donald Trump Jr.

“I like great fighters and great fights,” Donald Trump said in the statement. “I can’t wait to see both this Saturday night and share my thoughts at ringside. You won’t want to miss this special event.”

Here’s all you need to know.

Who is fighting?

Originally, legendary fighter Oscar De La Hoya, 48, who retired in 2009, was set to face former Brazilian UFC champion Vitor Belfort, 44, in an exhibition bout. But earlier this month, De La Hoya posted a video shot from a hospital bed. He has COVID-19 and cannot fight.

“I have contracted Covid and I will not be able to fight next weekend,” De La Hoya tweeted. “Preparing for this comeback has been everything for me over the past few months, and I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support.”

Evander Holyfield, 58, agreed to step in and fight Belfort. Holyfield will be 59 on October 19.

UFC legend Anderson Silva also boxes Tito Ortiz, another former UFC champion. Here is the full map.

Start time for Evander Holyfield vs Vitor Belfort

The event begins at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Saturday, September 11.

The event was scheduled to take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, De La Hoya’s hometown, but it was moved to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. According to an ESPN report, the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction Holyfield-Belfort.

The move from coast to coast certainly makes it more convenient for the former Florida-based president, who is reportedly in combat in person.

How to watch Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort

To watch the fight night in pay-per-view, go to Fite TV to purchase the package $ 49.99, which includes unlimited reruns until December 11, 2021. Or order it from your existing cable, satellite or telecom provider.

To hear the Trumps’ commentary during each game, viewers will need to use the Secondary Audio Function (SAP) on their set-top box or TV, pay-per-view provider iNDemand said in a statement.

How and why are the Assets involved?

Donald Trump is no newbie to combat sports. He is a longtime friend of Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Trump’s past involvement with the organization of major boxing events in its hotels and casinos has earned it a place in New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.

For the 9/11 event, the Trumps will be offering commentary on the night’s four fights. But these are not the only soundtracks available. Viewers can choose between the Trumps narrating the fight or regular commentators Jim Lampley and Shawn Porter.
